WCCA TV's Executive Director, Mauro DePasquale, interviews Priscilla Ress, Eversource Spokesperson, about the Good Neighbor Energy Fund. The GNEF provides assistance to Massachusetts residents in temporary financial crisis, who cannot pay their energy bills and do not qualify for federal or state funds. Requests for assistance go through The Salvation Army, which has income and household member guidelines for qualification. To qualify for assistance, an applicant's gross household income must fall between 60 and 80% of the state's median income levels. For example, a household of four would need to have a total gross yearly income between $94,609 and $126,144. Those who think they qualify can apply for assistance by contacting a local Salvation Army Community Center or Service Extension Unit. Those that are eligible will receive $400 per household per heating season. For more information about making a donation or to request assistance, please visit www.magoodneighbor.org or call 1-800-334-3047 (if your live in the eastern part of the state) or 1-800-262-1320 (if you live in the western part of the state). 'Soapbox' is exclusively on WCCA TV 194, Worcester's Public Access Community Media Center since 1986.
