Intern Interviews 24: Frederick Douglass Communal Reading

WCCA TV intern Adam DiLiddo recorded the Frederick Douglass Communal Reading in February 2023 at City Hall in Worcester. The event was organized by Cedric Arno and others. >> Frederick Douglass rose to fame with the 1845 publication of his first book "The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave". He fought throughout most of his career for the abolition of slavery and worked with notable abolitionists like William Lloyd Garrison and Gerrit Smith. His famous speech was delivered in 1852 entitled "What to the Slave, Is the 4th of July? The speech made comparisons between the Revolutionary War and the fight to abolish slavery. In his speech he urged his Rochester, NY. audience to contemplate the oppression of black Americans.
