On this first episode of a two-part series on Close to Home, host Maureen Schwab speaks with Addison Turner, member of the Worcester Youth Cooperatives (WYC) and founding member of Implacable Books, a cooperatively-owned radical bookstore, library, and community space located in the Green Island neighborhood at 189 Washington Street in Worcester, MA 01610. They discuss some of the social work that Addison and the WYC have been committed to through SOS (Solidarity, Outreach, Survival) Worcester, a harm reduction organization that supports hundreds of unhoused individuals each week, providing food, camping gear, advocacy and crisis response, addressing the ongoing housing and opioid crises.
