In Memorial: Ellie Grossman 1947-2011

Sad news for the WCCA TV community. We learned of the passing of a dear friend and supporter. Our prayers, thoughts and deepest sympathy go out to her family and friends.

According to the Worcester Telegram, Ellen Margaret Grossman, passed away on July 19, 2011 in Worcester. Born in Worcester on January 17, 1947 to Mary and Henry Grossman, “Ellie” is survived by her daughter, Lori O’Brien; Lori’s husband, Bruce and his children, Connor and Shauna; her brother, Michael Grossman and his wife Ilene of Los Angeles; her longtime companion, John DeCourcey of North Brookfield and many cousins.

The paper states that from 1996-2000, she hosted “Ellie Speaks” on WCCA, interviewing local and state political leaders, law enforcement authorities, business leaders, medical professionals, social service advocates, and others in the community

“Always finding joy working with children, Ellen cherished her years as a bus monitor and driver of special needs children.

She was a member of the Sisterhood and Choir of Temple Emanuel. She also worked in her family’s retail business, Remington’s Army and Navy, until it was sold in 1977. She graduated from North High School in 1966 and attended Quinsigamond Community College.

Ellen had a great heart, much love for family and friends, and persevered through her challenges in life. A service for Ellen was be held at Perlman Funeral Home, 1026 Main St., Worcester, at 11:00 a.m. on , MONDAY, July 25, 2011.”
