WCCA TV 13 Comprehensive TV and Media Training Programs
ORIENTATION TO WCCA TV Membership: FREE by appointment.
Learn about the many opportunities available at the WCCA TV 13 Public Access / Community Media Center. This is your opportunity to ask questions, and begin to expand your horizons as you explore various opportunities to participate by volunteering, helping out on community initiatives and events, consider our classes and workshops or internships, or producing or presenting your own community access TV show. We will be happy to speak at your group, business, or promotional planning function or meeting.
WCCA STUDIO BASIC CERTIFICATE PROGRAM: $35 with Community Producer Membership. $350 for non-members. Classes are Scheduled.
This 7 week program offers a basic overview: learn the basics needed to operate WCCA TV production equipment. Successful completion and a passing score of this class will earn you a certificate. (Note: All persons who utilize WCCA TV equipment must be certified by WCCA TV.). Class meets once a week for 6-8 weeks about 2.5 hours per session.
WCCA FIELD BASICS CERTIFICATE: $35 with Community Producer Membership. $350 for non-members. By Schedule or appointment as available.
Required for Field Producers Certificate: Learn the basics of Electronic Field Production (EFP) WCCA’s Field Camera and accessories, advice on acquiring good field audio, and lighting techniques. Class meets once a week for 6-8 weeks about 2.5 hours per session.
ADOBE PREMIER EDITING CERTIFICATES: $50 with active Producer Membership, $150 for non-members. Each workshop is 3 one-hour sessions. There is a $50 fee for each session that needs to be repeated.
Introduction Certificate: Preliminary Computer knowledge suggested. Introduction to Adobe Primer, Set ups, Capturing, Editing tips, Assembly/Time lines, and exporting your project.
Basic Beginner Certificate: (Introduction Certificate required) Review of the above, learn to add graphics and title pages, and basic special effects.
Intermediate Certificate: (Introduction Certificate required): Learn more tricks of the trade. Special effects, audio controls, keying, and animated wipes.
Don’t forget to practice, practice, and practice.
WCCA STUDIO BASICS A LA CARTE
STUDIO CAMERA: FREE with Community Producers Membership. $30 for non-members. By Appointment, as available.
This is a one hour “Hands On” Instruction. Covering use of WCCA’s Studio Cameras. Learn basic camera operation, communicate with and follow Directors instruction. Don’t forget to practice by volunteering on WCCA productions.
TelePrompTer: $35 for active members, $75 for non-members. Available by appointment.
This one-hour class instructs you on the art of working with the WCCA TV TelePromptTer software. Loading text, controlling scroll speed and reading tips are taught.
FIELD CAMERA AND ACCESSORIES: $35 per hour for active WCCA members. $75 per hour for non-members. Available by appointment. This one-hour instruction provides a basic overview on the use of WCCA TV field cameras and accessories.
TRINITY SWITCHER and COMPIX GRAPHICS Basic one on one: $35 for active WCCA Producing (Certificate) members, $75 per hour for non-WCCA members. Available by appointment.
An ntroduction to basic Trinity and Compix production tools. You will learn to produce exciting graphic images, text, and more.
INTERNET VIDEO: $35 per session with an active WCCA membership. $75.00 per hour session for non-members. Available by appointment. Hourly fees allows you to learn at your own pace.
This workshop covers
UBUNTU OPEN SOURCE BASICS: Introduction to the world of Ubuntu open source operating system. TBA as available.
POSTING VIDEO 101: Basics knowledge and steps to post your ready made video on the web. Knowledge of editing and computer skills required.
NOTE: WCCA TV will post your video online for you. There is a $150 service change per posting. (Shows must be ready for cablecast and in the proper format)

HTML FOR ACTIVIST: A very basic introduction to writing HTML. Scheduled, as available. FREE for WCCA members and the general public. Donations accepted. TBA
THE ART OF TV JOURNALISM Certificate: $250 with an active WCCA membership, $900 for non-members. This class is offered as available. TBA
Four week workshop. Learn the basics of story telling and formulating a TV news reporter package. Your homework may be cable cast on WCCA TV Community Vision News Program.
KIDSNET/YOUTH CHANNEL
Worcester’s premier year round after school media literacy program. Fees range from free to nominal. Scheduled workshops. Home of WCCA TV’s Teen Central and Young Views Real News. Inquire at WCCA TV. Limited space available.

Basic Producer's Certificate Program Class Overview
This training course is designed to help both the beginner and those familiar with other TV or video environments in the use of WCCA TV equipment and facilities.
The curriculum includes camera techniques, sound, frame composition, character generator, and graphics.
- Week 1 - Introduction to studios, field camera and tripod set-up
- Week 2 - Training in studio B. Introduction to studio cameras, audio, floor director, technical director, and director's duties
- Week 3 - Continuation of second week training if necessary
- Week 4 - Training in control room B (character generator)
- Week 5 - Midterm on facility policies and basic SVHS camera use
- Week 6 - Training in control room A (Trinity program). Switcher and Titlewave programs
- Week 7 - Analog Editing classes
- Week 8 - Course review and exam
