Imagine Worcester: Erin Mone

Virginia Swain is the host of WCCA TV's Imagine Worcester and The World show

Erin Mone is an expert in children’s rights issues, having worked with youngsters in war-torn countries for Save the Children and the International Rescue Committee. Erin is the regional director of recruitment for the Peace Corps and teacher at the Boston College Graduate School of Social Work (where she graduated in 1999 with a Master in Social Work). She served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Costa Rica and responded: "Seeing children in adverse situations, realizing how lucky I am and where I come from—something just sparked. I felt that my goal and my responsibility was to be an advocate for them." Erin focus her enormous sense of responsibility on some of the world's toughest cases. For four years, Mone lived mostly in refugee camps with former child soldiers from Sierra Leone, street children in Indonesia and youth displaced by war in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

WCCA is a Toys for Tots donation drop off location

The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. It needs your support to be successful.
WCCA is proud to have a Toys For Tots collection box in the lobby at 415 Main Street. It's not too late for you to drop off your toy donations.
There are several convenient ways to donate to Toys for Tots. As well as bringing a new unwrapped toy to the drop off at WCCA, until Monday December 22nd. You can also donate online, by email, via eBay, via PayPal, using Coke rewards, or even donate a vehicle.

Worcester Shakespeare Festival: A Midsummer Night's Dream and Twelfth Night

The Redfeather Theatre Company at Holy Cross presents the 2008 Worcester Shakespeare Festival running from July 23rd until August 17th. Performances are held nightly from Wednesday until Sunday at 7:00pm in the Memorial Grove in Green Hill Park. Tickets are $15 general admission, $10 for seniors, and $5 for children. Tickets may be purchased at the box office on the night of performance.

This summer we present A Midsummer Night's Dream & Twelfth Night. Two of the most popular plays in the Shakespearean canon, suitable for everyone in the family. Bring a lawn chair, a picnic basket and a blanket to relish a delightful evening of theatre under the stars.
