WCCA Video Stream

Please keep this stream running by donating to WCCA TV13.

If you're using Firefox on Windows, you may need to install the Windows Media plugin.

VLC: The free VLC media player does a good job and runs on just about any computer. After you download it, open WCCA's VLC playlist in the program.

Windows: The player above should work for most Windows users in Internet Explorer. If it does not work for you, try clicking here; Windows Media Player should launch and play WCCA.

Mac: If you have a Mac, you'll need the Windows Media Components for Quicktime to view the stream in the browser.

Linux: If you're on a Linux based OS, like Ubuntu, virtually any of the available media players including VLC, mplayer, xine, and totem should play the stream. You may have to install the restricted formats to add support for Microsoft formats.

The URL for the stream is mms://www.wccatv.com:8080/ for most video players. VLC users should use mmsh://www.wccatv.com:8080/ As of this writing VLC can't automatically detect that we're using MMS over HTTP.

For updates on the stream, see the tech blog. You can also learn how we made our stream using all free software.

If the stream doesn’t seem to be working, please add a comment below.

Now even if you do not have cable access, or you live outside of Worcester, you can still enjoy WCCA’s wide variety of quality programming. If the fact that you don’t have cable has stopped you from becoming a member and producing your own TV show, there’s no longer any reason to hold yourself back!

Known issues

I've deleted the old comments on the stream, and hereby start a new thread on "known issues."

  • On some computers, the aspect ratio is wrong (the picture is too wide)

More Info please

Can you provide a few details?
Are you watching in a browser or are you using an external player?
Which browser or player?

Re 1/2 image

I use firefox.
While watching the laptop and the cable TV image, at the same time, I can see the internet version is loosing about half of the right side of the image seen on the cable cast. I'm viewing it right off your web page with whatever player yo provide for it.

You guys are great. I know you will fix it in time. No problem. I love WCCA no matter what. Everyone does.

Since the new stream went

Since the new stream went up, I've been trying both mms and mmsh links on the latest versions of VLC, Winamp and even WMP. I've only been able to connect once. I must be doing something wrong, but I don't know what.

For example, when I try to use it with VLC, I get the error:

Unable to open 'mms://www.wccatv.com:8080/'
Unable to open 'mmhs://www.wccatv.com:8080/'

Any ideas?

Try the playlist link

Anonymous VLC user: Have you tried this link?

http://www.wccatv.com/files/wcca.m3u

(This is mentioned in the "VLC" section above, but the wording may be confusing.)

I think the m3u link is the preferred way to connect with VLC.

Thank you. Yes, I tried

...and, when I try the link mms://www.wccatv.com:8080/ with Winamp, the video box pops up, Winamp says "[Buffering: 0%]" and then nothing happens.

Still a no go on the stream.

Still a no go on the stream. VLC, RP and MWP will not work on any of your settings.

Thanks for everyone's input
