Big Buck Bunny released

bunny-bow.thumbnail.png

"Big Buck Bunny" is out!

We've previously written about this ten-minute animated film made with the open source program Blender. It was funded by foundation support and pre-orders of the DVD. As part of this spirit of openness, the DVD contains all the source files for the project, and (after the pre-orders are filled) the movie will be available under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license, meaning anyone can remix it however they like.

In fact, we're using it to close this weekend's episode of the Snow Ghost Community Show.

The "transclassist" aspects of the Snow Ghost

A fan, who calls Bruce "snow," comments on tbe zombie episode:

thank you for making such a great piece. it is on that line between entertainment and true hellfire.

its awesome.

i also like the class-breaking aspect of the show with snow.

snow is transclassist in the same sense michael jackson is transracial.

when confronted with snow, the viewer can't immediately tell what class he is.

we know he's not our class, but then he's not exactly opposite us, either.

he's just .. different .. and welcomed.

Snow Ghost #12: Zombies

snowghost_012_00000026.jpg

A conversation with Catholic Worker Scott Schaeffer-Duffy about zombies.

You can download the mp4 video (73MB) or try other formats.

Stills from this episode. This episode includes clips from "White Zombie" and "Night of the Living Dead."
Scott: Division and self-interest are not good solutions. Building up walls, keeping out people, not being hospitable, they're not good solutions cause ultimately somebody's gonna catapult a plague victim over your walls because of the bitterness. You're gonna end up divided with each other. You gotta keep your values intact. Mike: So actually Worcester's success in dealing with people who are experiencing homelessness, or addiction, or whatever, maybe comes into play when we face zombie attack. Scott: The compassionate cities are gonna fare better.
Bruce is describing "Prince of Darkness." Mike: Wait a second, it's a liquid form of Satan? Bruce: Yeah! Scott: You haven't seen this film? Bruce: You gotta see this man! Mike: How do they manufacture a liquid form of Satan? Bruce: It's in a green liquid. How do you liquify vomit after you get it on yourself? Mike: It is liquid! It's vomit!

  • The results of an economics experiment suggest that ". . . having participants listen to songs by AC/DC in which Brian Johnson served as vocalist results in participants realizing more efficient outcomes. Thus, in terms of a singer’s ability to implement efficient behavioral outcomes among listeners, our results suggest that Brian Johnson was a better vocalist than Bon Scott."

  • Bruce makes the case that Metallica is not, and never has been, a metal band; nobody is convinced
  • Do people watch public access? Bruce says Yes, and has the stories to prove it.
  • Bruce is picked up by the police.
