Fifth Annual Worcester Walk-A-Thon To Cure Scleroderma Set For May 6
Submitted by Anonymous on April 9, 2007 - 2:50pm.
05/06/2007 - 10:00am
The Fifth Annual Worcester Walk-A-Thon To Cure Scleroderma will take place from the Bancroft School on Sunday, May 6, 2007.
Sign-in will begin at 10 a.m. in the Bancroft School Gymnasium, 110 Shore Drive, Worcester, and the 3.5-mile Walk around Indian Lake steps off at noon.
Scleroderma is a chronic, often progressive, autoimmune disease. It literally means “hard skin” which can cause thickening and tightening of the skin, as well as causing damage to internal organs. It occurs about four times more often in women than in men, and also attacks children. Its cause is unknown, and presently there is no cure.
Funds raised by the May 6 Walk will be used by the New England Chapter of the Scleroderma Foundation to help people with Scleroderma and their families cope with the disease through support programs, physician referrals, educational information and research.
For further information, e-mail SCWorcester@gmail.com or call the Chapter’s toll-free number in Topsfield – 888-525-0658.
