Commemoration of the 18th Anniversary of the Republic of Armenia’s independence

A commemoration in honor of the 18th Anniversary of the Republic of Armenia’s independence will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 6:30pm, in the Saxe Room of the Worcester Public Library. The observance is sponsored by the Knights Of Vartan Arshavir Lodge No.2 and features the local premiere of BEAUTIFUL ARMENIANS. Directed by Tamar Salibian, the film is a travelogue, an interview, and a family history as well as a study of culture, memory, and ethnicity from the perspective of an Armenian-American in the 21st Century. The program also includes a City Proclamation from Mayor Konstantina B. Lukes; a presentation of books and videos to the library’s KNIGHTS OF VARTAN COLLECTION; and a reception with refreshments.
